PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A Structural Wall Tie Rod is a specialized connecting component used in construction engineering to enhance the integrity of structural walls, transfer loads, and stabilize walls. It is widely applied in various structural wall systems such as masonry walls, concrete structural walls, and curtain walls. Its core function is to balance internal or external forces acting on the wall(e.g.,tensile forces caused by the wall’s self-weight,lateral forces induced by wind loads, and thermal expansion/contraction stresses due to temperature changes)through the tensile performance of the tie rod. This prevents the wall from cracking, tilting,or collapsing, making it a crucial component for ensuring the safety and durability of building structural walls.

Application Scenarios and Core Functions

The application scenarios of structural wall tie rods vary depending on wall types and project requirements, covering the following key areas:

Masonry Structural Walls:In brick masonry walls or block walls, tie rods must be installed at intervals(typically 1–2 meters horizontally and 0.8–1.5 meters vertically). They connect the two sides of the wall or the wall to the main structure(e.g.,frame columns),preventing cracks in the masonry caused by mortar shrinkage and temperature deformation while enhancing the wall’s wind resistance and seismic performance.

Concrete Structural Walls:In non-load-bearing concrete partition walls or lightweight concrete structural walls, tie rods can assist in fixing wall formwork(similar to the basic function of shear wall connecting rods). After the wall is formed, they also serve as additional supports to transfer loads from adjacent components, compensating for the insufficient load-bearing capacity of the wall itself.

Curtain Wall Systems:In the supporting walls behind glass curtain walls or stone curtain walls, tie rods are used to connect the curtain wall keels to the structural walls. They transfer wind loads and self-weight loads borne by the curtain wall to the main structure, ensuring the curtain wall and the wall bear forces collaboratively.

Repair and Reinforcement Projects:For cracked or loose structural walls in old buildings, embedding or adding structural wall tie rods can restore the wall’s integrity, improve its load-bearing capacity, and extend the building’s service life.

Common Structural Types and Material Selection

Structural Types

The structural design of structural wall tie rods is adapted to different force-bearing requirements, mainly categorized into the following types:

Straight Tie Rods:The most basic type, featuring a solid rod body with full threads or partial threads.Equipped with nuts, washers,or anchors at both ends, they are suitable for scenarios with small loads and single force directions(e.g.,internal bracing of masonry walls).

Anchored Tie Rods:Tie rods with anchor plates or anchor bars at one or both ends. The anchors need to be embedded in concrete structures(e.g.,frame beams, columns)or solid foundations. They are applicable to scenarios requiring large load transfer(e.g.,connection between curtain walls and the main structure).

Adjustable Tie Rods:A regulating sleeve or turnbuckle is installed in the middle of the rod body. The length of the tie rod can be adjusted by rotation, facilitating precise control of wall spacing or tension values during construction. They are commonly used in curtain wall installation and temporary reinforcement scenarios.

Combined Tie Rods:Composed of a main tie rod body and additional components such as waterstop plates and anti-corrosion sleeves.Similar to the integrated design of shear wall connecting rods, they are suitable for underground structural walls or walls in humid environments, providing both bracing and waterproof functions to prevent groundwater seepage along the gaps of the tie rods.
